Outdoor network cable suitable for outdoor space

Currently, various types of network cables are produced and sold in the market by foreign and domestic brands. One of the best brands of network cables in Oman is LTHS network cable, which is produced in two types: outdoor network cable and indoor network cable. Network cables, like other cables, are made of metal wire networks with a plastic coating and a communication substrate for the exchange of information and connections of a network.

These are network cables. As a result, they fall into different categories. For example, network cables can be divided into different models in terms of structure, construction, color and cabling location. In this article, we will introduce the outdoor network cable and its performance, and explain the difference between this type of cable and the indoor network cable.

What is an outdoor network cable and what is its function?

Outdoor network cable is very suitable for outdoor use due to its special design. This network cable has good resistance to temperature changes, snow and rain, UV rays from the sun and other environmental factors. Outdoor cables are also much more resistant to heat and cold than indoor cables and are manufactured to be waterproof.

The outdoor network cable has a PVC and LSZH coating like normal network cables; in addition, to increase the resistance of this cable, another coating of polyethylene (PE) is used in this cable. The presence of this coating makes the network cable heavier and thicker than the network cable of this round.

Outdoor network cable structure

The main structure of a typical network cable consists of the cable sheath, four pairs of twisted copper wires and the separator. Depending on the type of network cable, the structure of these cables includes the following components

Shield and foil: in some cables, there is a surface between the foil and the twisted pairs; in general, the role of this component is to eliminate any excess electrical fluctuations.

Cross bar: The presence of this part in the remote network cable causes all the twisted pairs to be separated from each other. The material of this part of the network cable (outdoor) is plastic, and if it is not present in the structure of the cable, it will cause noise due to the effect of the pairs on each other.

Twisted pairs: This part of the long-distance network cable has 8 strands of wire that are responsible for sending and receiving information.

Outer jacket of the cable: The outer jacket protects the cable from impact, deterioration and other possible environmental damage.

What is the difference between outdoor and indoor network cables?

These two types of network cables differ from each other in terms of performance and appearance; for example, in terms of installation environment, indoor network cables are designed and used for indoor spaces, and outdoor network cables are designed and used for outdoor spaces. In terms of appearance, the outdoor network cable has a small weight and a large diameter, and the round network cable has a small diameter and a large weight. The features of these two network cables are described separately below to help you understand the difference.

Indoor network cable features

Indoor network cables are usually coated with PVC or LSZH.

It is damaged by environmental factors such as water, heat, cold, dust, sunlight, shock and strain.

Over time it becomes worn and unused.

Features of network cable (Outdoor)

The outdoor network cable has an additional coating to increase resistance.

The buried outdoor network cable has a black PE coating, a Steel Armored protective layer and a toxic layer. The toxic layer is used to prevent the cable from being eaten by rodents.

The outdoor cable has high resistance and durability to factors such as cold, heat and humidity.

The remote network cable is designed to be waterproof.

All kinds of brands that produce remote network cables

All over the world, various brands are active in the field of manufacturing all kinds of network cables; among the best domestic and foreign cable brands, LTHS, Prysmian, Legrand, NEGSENS, Belden, Schneider, Siemens and D-Link can be mentioned.
